About Me
Professional Background: I have been working in video games since 2004, primarily as a technical artist and character technical director. In addition to PS3 and XBox 360 games, I have worked on a variety of games for the web and iPhone, as well as taught classes on related subjects. You can find out more about some of the projects on which I have worked throughout the various sections of my site. I mainly started this website as a means for sharing information relevant to technical artists and technical animators.
In addition to continuing to work on various indie games, I recently relocated to the Madison, Wisconsin area and formed a new start-up called Candlelight Interactive. My focus moving forward is on developing web-based games to improve science literacy practices and conduct research in education technology and science education.
Research Interests: Professionally, most of my research has centered around character and animation technology. My academic research interests concern:
- Design of symbolic assessments for inquiry learning
- Algorithmic coding of assessments for inquiry learning
- Transferability of science literacy practices across disciplines, especially into public policy
Personal: I have a BA in Game Art and Design from the Art Institute of Phoenix, as well as a BA in German, a BA in Political Science, and an honors certificate in Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Arizona State University. I will be pursuing a PhD in Education Communications and Technology at UW Madison starting in September of 2010 as a Graduate Fellow. I am married and vegetarian. In addition to my work, I enjoy reading, miniature painting, and mountain unicycling.
